Glow Sky Bar, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam.
At the top of the automated elevator we were greeted by a hostess in a pencil black skirt who eyed our flip flops and gave an audible sigh. At the bar she seemed tangibly relieved we were the first and only customers. We then did exactly what the man in Reno told us not to do, ordered signature cocktails.
The Saigon Sidewalk, Belvedere Vodka, Malibu Rum and coconut juice served in a fresh coconut, the small white, trimmed dank kind, tasted like the best liquified sunscreen ever produced.
So ya, the bar was like, MIXOLOGY, but hell, I’ll pay 12$ a cocktail once to watch an approaching thunder storm alongside the sunset over the skyline of a throbbing 8 million person city while eating chunks of coconut and lychee with our hands like the walking contagious mess of bad manners we are. Let’s just say the “everybody’s a VIP” escort seemed more than happy for us to leave before the real customers came at a reasonable hour (like after 6).
